Re: the value of this list
I don't want this list to be a general garden how-to discussion.
However, some of our discussions of what is a native species (to the town,
the zone, the country?), an invasive plant, and the most ecologically sound
way to till the ground are getting at something philosophical. As Mary says,
these are issues that broaden our scope as writers. They relate to our
communication of ecologically beneficial methods to our readers. This makes
our writing more meaningful and therefore more interesting and, we hope,
successful. When you think of all the media outlets our members produce
material for, the impact of our discussions here is positive and
significant. When we start repeating ourselves, it's time for our moderator
(thanks for your patience, Lon!) to guide us to a new topic. If we all would
take care to trim the trailing ends from the messages to which we reply, we
could improve the content to noise ratio a great deal. We have great
content, but too much noise!
