RE: Copyright infringement

Being a possible copyright infringer with my reference to this list to the New York Times article, it is much easier to stop referring articles.  I have a lot of other things to worry about in my business.  I do not need to have to go to the trouble to cover my butt when I am making a referral to friends.

Subject: Re: [GWL] Copyright infringement

A friend of ours sends a large amount of material from newspapers and magazines throughout the world to a very large e-mail list. He puts at the bottom of each transmission the following sentence:

"[Disclaimer: In accordance with 17 U.S.C. 107, this material is distributed without profit or payment to those who have expressed a prior interest in receiving this information for non-profit research and educational purposes only.]"

All of the material he sends out is archived at his own web site. I think our friend would be extremely careful about not violating copyright law, but to be sure, why not contact John Hazard, the attorney who is available to us through GWA, to check this out?
