I would have to agree with Doreen. Markets for meaty gardening articles seem to be dwindling. Many editors want the decorating/make everything pretty theme, which I think has it's place, within reason. There has also been a trend (at least on the west coast) toward delving into the inner lives of gardeners. I'm all for this when it's a well-known gardener who I can learn from, but when it's your average gardener, I don't want to read about their whole life, and I don't want to write about it either, especially when it gets off track of the subject--which is gardening.
I find myself shifting my audience quite frequently, from beginners, to more experienced gardeners, to armchair gardeners, to this new era of what I can only call "non-gardening" gardening articles.
