Caveat Emptor

Folks:
I recently got a complaint offlist about one member's dealings with
another. I don't need to go into detail about what happened to make the
following point:
Remember, even though you are a member of this list, that doesn't mean
that your dealings with another list member are necessarily going to be
different from anyone else you might come in contact with. There are just
as apt to be clashes of style, personality, ways of doing business, etc.
among members of this list as among any group of people. The value of this
list is communication. It allows us to learn from each other so that we can
avoid clashes and difficulties in our dealings as garden writers,
horticulturists, etc. That doesn't mean there won't be any problems at all,
just that the list gives us a powerful tool to help either reduce the
chances of problems or help solve them after they happen.
But no matter what, you still need to go into any relationship, business
or otherwise, with your eyes open, even with other members of the GWL.
-Lon Rombough, list founder (who doesn't want the list to founder)
