Re: Re: Who's the Audience (let's be honest)

One of the main differences between what is perceived as unpleasant work and
what is perceived as a meditative or creative activity is the noise factor.
No wonder the public associates gardening with work, since most garden crews
and many individuals destroy the ambiance of a quiet neighborhood with their
motorized blowers, mowers, chippers, chain saws, cultivators, and
clippers -- all of which are supposed to be used with ear protection. The
noise of the vacuum cleaner is what I hate most about housework, and the
noise of garden machinery is what interferes with the pleasure of gardening.
What can be done about this!?

With best wishes,
Betty

Cooking a gourmet meal? I'd rather do it myself as well.

(especially the dishes!). And the reason is because it's work.
A lot of people perceive gardening as work. To me, it isn't really. It's
> a way to get outside and enjoy the weather and sun, get some exercise,
and get my creative juices flowing as I come up with schemes for new
planting beds. And of course, to watch my 'children' grow.
