Re: Need (easy) writing advice
As a former newspaper reporter and editor, I came across this problem often.
Associate Press style manual says to call each by their full name--John Doe
and Samuel Doe--or by the nicknames they use in daily life--Jackie Doe, Sam
Doe. If the nickname is not a shorter version of their real name (Sam from
Samuel), when you refer to them the first time, use John (Jackie) Doe and
thereafter refer to them as Jackie Doe.
