Pressurized timbers

I have a question regarding pressure treated timbers.  I have heard they poison plants, however, I used them for over 20 years landscaping in NYC and have seen no ill effects from any of the beds.  I stopped using them but received a bulletin from my local Extension Service recommending them for raised beds. What is the current thinking?
