FW: New filtering software being used.
There is some work being done on the content filtering software at ibiblio
for the GWL and apparently there are still some bugs. This was stopped, and
I am not sure why, unless it's the subject line.

You have to stop thinking about how he will react to your article. I think
it's much harder to write profiles of people you know well than those you've
just met.

The best advice I ever got was to just sit down at the typewriter (at that
time) and start writing. Anything. Just hit the keys with chain of
consciousness. "Damn, it's cold out. And snowing. I should be working on
this Rasmussin thing, but nothing comes to mind. He's been my mentor for a
decade, and I don't ... wait. Is that a lead? Mr. Rassmussin has been my
mentor . . . then what? OK, The least of his accomplishments ......"
Anyway, you get the idea. This does a couple of things. First, it gets you
on the keyboard. Sometimes that leap is the toughest to make. And second, I
found that eventually the words started to crystalize.
On a related topic. In the beginning as a weekly columnist, I sometimes had
trouble finding what to write about. I'd just go out into the garden and
start working, and fbefore long I'd come on something that deserved a
column. That was three decades ago. Now my problem is more deciding what
not to write about, as each week there are at least three or four things I
want to cover.
