Invitation and News Flash

News Flash - At the Can-Am Daylily Symposium held in Niagara Falls, Canada this past weekend, a daylily seedling was auctioned off for a world record $6,000.00 Canadian!
 
The purchaser was an American from St. Louis. The daylily, a deep purple with white sharks tooth edging will be registered by the hybridizer, Dr. Ted Petit and named by the purchaser. Truly amazing, the room was on edge as the intense bidding unfolded, lots of gasps and a standing ovation at the end.

New in the flower show business, Hofstra has no arrangements for the press. If you are interested in coming before the show opens to the public for a "behind the scene" peek check the above referenced website for directions. At the entrance booth show a press pass and give them my name (Melanie Vassallo) or the directors name, Vivian Pasuello. 
 
Construction of showcased gardens begins today. Federated judges will be on the upper level Friday morning so press might not be allowed up there then.
 
Final note, thanks again to those who wrote privately with advice on programs. The audience response was overwhelming, I was invited back next year and also booked a lecture in Colorado.
