Re: Style question
Chris: take all the exception you want but as far as the International Code
of Nomenclature is concerned, both plants and animals have scientific names
not botanical names and zoological names and except for a few arrogant
publications they are to be in italics if surrounded by roman and roman if
surrounded by italics. (Also, the English plural for fungus is not fungi but
funguses, etc.) If a plant or animal has the same scientific name it's up
to the writer to say it's a plant or an animal. I didn't make the rules but
merely pointing them out. P.
