Re: Blogs

Why would a writer write a blog?

Like Andrew, I write to educate. That's also why I'm willing to lecture at a ridiculous low price to a group that can't afford a high fee.

Mostly though I write as an expression of my thoughts. It's free therapy for me. As a stay at home Mom there are times that I think I'm going to go crazy if I don't share my thoughts on gardening. As it turns out, most of the people in my day to day life really don't want to hear about my last truckload of manure or the fact that I must get a Mukdenia for my garden.

Doug's written some great questions and points about blogs. Here's my reasons for having a blog:

First and foremost it gives me an outlet to spill out the millions of thoughts banging around in my mind. If some people begin to enjoy those thoughts and share their own thoughts it will be even more rewarding.

Second, cash flow is a serious problem for me and having a webpage designed and maintained is not a current option. With a blog I can list upcoming lectures, lecture topics, photographs and all kinds of things. As time goes by I'm hoping that the blog would be a reference that I can add to my resume.

As soon as the blog is refined I will have new business cards printed that include the blog address on them.

Keep the thoughts coming,
Melanie Vassallo
