    A small aside here.... I have not met nor communicated with George Ball, 
but I have traded and sold seed to Ball seed for research on native 
perennials. He is not the only seed house interested and doing research on 
natives, so the issue is not an all or nothing-either, or. As usual the 
issue is not always that simple and direct.
    Please take the time to contact some of the people directly involved in 
the APHIDS proposed regulations, the White List, and proposed regulations by 
the feds. In fact many of the regulations everyone is crying over are *not* 
new. Merely old ones being enforced. What is being discussed by George... 
contact Tony Avant who is or was on the original committee... is all our 
gardens and livelihoods that will be directly effected. Not only will be, 
but it is in fact here.
 We all need to get past the posturing and hand wringing, only to wander off 
to the next topic of interest. ... and hire damn good active attorneys.
