Re: New Magazine Spawns Possible Garden Critter Solution

Perhaps some of this is a bit hard to take unless you have the cultural
background. The new publication may be right on target.
I have a brother who is a retired truck driver who now works part time
for the local bottled gas company. His wife works for a local factory in
shipping. Both are southern in that they live outside Nashville, TN. Both
are into flowers in their yard, a vegetable garden and the big manly thing
to have is a large water feature with fish to talk about. Both hunt deer in
season together. My brother has more guns than the local armory. They would
not be considered the "affluent", but they do spend money on plants and
related products. I doubt either of them consider themselves "gardeners"
unless you refer to the vegetable garden. The up scale would be their
neighbors who are a bit younger and spent more money on new homes around
him... the big Mc Mansions.
My father always carried a pistol in his tackle box when fishing in a
boat... shoot snakes that get into the boat without putting a hole in the
bottom... bird shot was used..... Now that I have neighbors all round me I
would consider a smooth bore for pests....Makes sense if you are from the
culture where people accept and use firearms... and want to do it safely.
Gene ... with my red neck showing.
