>>GARDEN & GUN has yet to launch (April 3) but is already stirring up
opinions, mostly about the "gun" part. Kentucky.com quotes owner Rebecca
Darwin about the magazine's mission: It is designed, she said, to appeal to
men and women who live, or wish they lived, the sporting life. "She says
you either get 'the gun part' -- and you're her kind of lifelong subscriber
-- or you don't -- in which case maybe you should just look at it once, to
be fair, but maybe you're not really her audience anyway." The garden part
is less controversial but deserves a little thinking as well. It "is
represented by emphases on pasture and field and preservation. It will
dwell on delta and marsh, hillock and plain, pasture and palisade, bottom
land and -- yeah, baby -- bluegrass."...<<

Doesn;t sound like much actual gardening to me...

Also, this other garden-related magazine is set to launch, according to
Wooden Horse:

>>FLOWER MAGAZINE covers fresh flower arrangements, how-to techniques from
notable and up-and-coming artists and floral designers, stories of floral
fun and fiascos, resources, and shows and events. Margot Shaw is
editor-in-chief of this quarterly publication, which debuts with the Spring
issue on March 15. Distribution is throughout the southeast, mainly in the
key cities of Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA, and Nashville, TN...<<

AND

>>PROGRESSIVE FARMER has launched a commercial edition set to debut in
April. The new edition will feature an expanded business section with new
design elements, columnists and in-depth articles targeting commercial
farmers. The publication will have a circulation of 190,000 subscribers...<<
