Philadelphia Green, with the proceeds. I had a booth in the trade show for many
years, last in '98 where my rental fee for a double space was $6300. This year
they had more than 200 vendors by my count.
    The show always has several very big sponsors, usually a bank and an
automaker and gets hundreds of thousands of paying visitors, so its a big
financial deal.  PHS gives stipends to major exhibitors which don't begin to
cover their costs. And as many GWA members know, they don't pay authors to
speak (a few exceptions) and we're happy to support the cause and garner the

I have a friend who exhibited twice at the Chelsea Flower Show (won
