Re: What's blooming in your garden?
Sorry for the late check-in, but I've been busy grading student designs and
flapping my lips at various functions and cleaning up storm debris.
It's spring here, for sure. My Daffodils ( approx 400) are about done
blooming, as are the Hyacinths. The Snowdrops finished last week. The Grape
Hyacinths just opened this week, in time to color echo the Ipheion. The
species Tulips are in full bloom. For some reason, the spring bulbs are
doing their thing all at once. I suspect it's that they all got growing at
once when the rains returned last fall.
The Serviceberry is in full bloom, as are the Quince and white Spirea. The
neighbor's Bradford Pears are almost done - good thing! I'm tired of the
fishy smell.
The Vincas, both major and minor, are blooming. So's the Winter Honeysuckle
(Lonicera fragrantissima - those with a musical background will appreciate
the name), several Witch Hazels, the Maple trees, Loropetalum, Forsythia,
Hellebores and Candytuft. The wild Violets are dotting the lawn. I consider
them "flowers" rather than "weeds" .
I'm sure I'm leaving out something, but that's the main from a quick
walk-around.
Daryl
