They smell like roses compared to Sauromatum venosum. And I have crates of
both in the basement. For us, the first sign of spring is when we get up in
the morning and run gasping and retching outside for some air.
The Amorphophallus, however, is a simply outstanding patio container plant,
either alone or in combination. I've been pushing them for years, given
scores away, and tried unsuccessfully to sell them at my spring driveway
plant sale. I put egg sized tubers out for three bucks and usually have as
many in the evening as I did in the morning.
