As I did this as a master gardener talk, the money went to them, and I  don't 
know how much they paid (sorry, I didn't even open the envelope out of  
curiosity!). I will say though that the church was less than 5 minutes from me  and 
the talk was one that I needed for the lunchtime ones anyway (just added a  
few more images), which is the only thing that made it worth it. 

My sense is that they were used to a speaker, and the time allocated did  not 
cross their minds - if I said my standard program is $x they would pay it,  
and not adjust.
