Re: stringer, Blogging and decent money
DH=boardspeak 4 Dear Hubby (s/b 4ever, 2) owell Whos perfect, Im not, r u?
ANd anyway, he's a great guy! I mean, my peeps are okay with that. But this pseudotext is dumb when we have a keyboard and no keystroke limit, ya know? Soon we will be communicating Skype-style with voice and video via Bluetooth, I suspect.
In terms of writing, I wish I'd learned to write a la Hemingway, concise but vivid. Doing that well is an interesting mind puzzle. But I tended toward stream of consciousness ala Faulkner so there went that idea. Cut, cut, cut!
Today seems to be a dichotomy between the "let it all hang out" kids and the old school "style book" people who like to slap kids with rulers. I'm hoping to settle into a happy medium somewhere, because I think languages are living, evolving, breathing forms of communication, but preferably where readability and human connecting meet accuracy and precision without too much compromise. This, for me, is where blogging hits a snag. That helpful filtration and honing done by a sympathetic editor is notably missing.
Too, pixels are so cheap compared to print, that we don't take the care we should about what we publish. So now we are in info overload, and the bulk of it is essentially inconsequential.
I suspect the 'system' will eventually self correct. Hope we all land on top when it does!
