Hi Nan,

No offense taken--at all. As you mention, the majority of the garden blogs I read do all the things you list. So I guess we're all "commercial."

It has just been randomly applied to a whole range of items and strategies that one finds on blogs and websites. For example, it's been cited as evidence of this that Garden Rant uses the word "rant" and has a manifesto. What is commercial about that? I just don't get how the word is being used here, so I'm not finding any of this terribly illuminating.

But it doesn't need to be.  We're just talking, which is what a listserv is for!
