Re: 2019: You had me at garlic


When I owned Underwood Gardens, we grew and harvested seeds from Spilanthes
for our catalog.  Licking fingers or touching tongue or lips after handling
the seed heads resulted in numbness on the part touched.  Spilanthes is
called toothache plant because it was used to numb the mouth for a
toothache.  I had customers tell me how often it was still used to get
someone through a weekend when a dentist was not available...or for teething
babies.

I laughed at a big seed catalog's recommendation of tossing Spilanthes
leaves in salads.   What a perfect way to hide the fact that you're not a
good cook!

If you choose to sample these "berries", please share the results.
