Empress Splendor Tree
My husband, who believes in miracles and who also always plants at least one monster tree that we have to have cut down everywhere we live, ordered this tree from a magazine supplement. It is indeed fast growing; ours grew about 40 feet in four years. The leaves are huge. It is supposed to have vibrant purple blooms but ours must have been propagated from seed because the blooms are almost white. Seedlings are supposed to be a problem but not so for us thus far, maybe because the area gets mowed so regularly. The roots are raised, though, and are becoming a problem. My husband still loves it.
