Re: Article about Blogs and Fast Food

Hi all,

This is kind of tangential to the topic, but when I interviewed a big group of gardeners--some of the best in town too--a while back, most said they didn't read anything garden-related, books, magazines, or blogs. They read, sure, just not about gardening.

A terrible thing to say on a garden writers' listserv, I know! But many of the gardeners I talk to seem to pass knowledge from gardener to gardener verbally rather than getting it from books and articles. So I suppose that would make a leap to online reading less likely. 

It's not like cooking where you usually need to have that recipe.

Just my observations. But it does seem that most of my blog readers are other bloggers. And on this forum, we are all writers/readers. Perhaps GWA has done a survey on the reading habits of gardeners in general.
