Re: What to Plant When
The problem with this is that it is so very regionally specific. The right time to plant in coastal Massachusetts is far different than forty miles inland, for example. Having a wikipedia type of site where everyone contributes the data for their region is smart, but even then there will be a wide range of opinions and experiences. In my area the off-ocean winds can be brutal one year but not so bad the next... and the night time temps are hard on many warm weather plants such as basil and tomatoes. So such a site should be set up for specific plants as well as regions/micro-climates. Even with this approach, the data gathered would become more accurate after five or more years, and this with the understanding that it's all in flux due to climate change. A noble goal....
