My first computer had a 5 inch floppy drive. (Actually my very first
computer had a tape drive.) My next had both a 5 inch and 3 inch drive, and
I transferred some but not all of the 5 inch. The next computer had only a 3
inch drive plus a CD drive. As software started coming out on DVDs, I got a
computer with a DVD/CD drive but no floppy. All the outdated media are in a
couple of boxes in the basement. Next to them are several boxes with vinyl
LPs, 8 tracks, and cassettes. I no longer use the cassettes since MP3 rose.
In every change, I lost something. A lot of money, for one thing.
