Re: published in additional market/editorial issue

Hi, All!

You might recall one of my columns got published a second time without my permission in a sister magazine run by the same editor who has been stonewalling me re payment. Finally have an update to report...had to burn his toes...

Here's what has happened just today. Settled on a payment (meager to say the least) which is somewhat important. What's more important is the company's policy: "...my not being clear about the company's across-the-board policy-which is any content the company pays for it can use in any publication where it makes sense..."

This is new news to me, never having been told this before (more than 10 years into this relationship!). We've always worked on a handshake.

I agreed to the payment for this one instance with a request for a face to face meeting for the purpose of discussing compensation (time for a raise anyway).

This "policy" sounds to me like I would be giving up my copyright which I am loathe to do.

Feedback anyone?
