Re: Kumato


I agree with Betty. Tomato seed is easier. I've never done all of that
washing, etc. Just spread the seed out on a Kleenex or paper towel. You can
tear off bits of the paper towel that have a couple of seeds on it and plant
that. When Cherokee Purple plants were uncommon, I saved lots of seed this
way and they still germinate, even after 5 years.

It is not much work! Squeeze some seeds from your fresh Kumato onto a bit of
paper towel. Plant now while they are damp or later after they dry. That is
it. I have never worried about the gel coating nature has put onto tomato
seeds. It seems to keep them moist for germination.

We'll see. I've never bothered to save tomato seeds before, since it seems a
lot of work to save a buck and a half, but I suppose it's time I did.
