Re: Kumato

Fun thread!
However, please correct me if I am wrong, the "gelatinous sack" enveloping a tomato seed has chemicals that inhibit germination (else, the seeds would sprout inside the wet flesh of the tomato fruit, which I for one have never seen).

It is not much work! Squeeze some seeds from your fresh Kumato onto a bit of
paper towel. Plant now while they are damp or later after they dry. That is it.
I have never worried about the gel coating nature has put onto tomato seeds. It
seems to keep them moist for germination.

We'll see. I've never bothered to save tomato
seeds before, since it seems a
lot of work to save a buck and a half, but I
suppose it's time I did.
