Re: Fwd: sign at Home Depot about "safe" neonicotinoids
Hi, Carolyn!
I think our list strips off attachments (Doug?).
The tag you're referring to is the one that was under discussion in the other thread that started last week on "Bees and box store plants." HD was supposed to be holding off on that initiative until later this year. I guess they are starting earlier. The tag I saw when they announced they were going to do this read, "This plant is protected from problematic aphids, whiteflies, beetles, mealy bugs and unwanted pests by neonicotinoids." UGH!!!
In any event, "approved" is a questionable term to say the least!

Subject: [GWL] Fwd: sign at Home Depot about "safe" neonicotinoids
About 10 days ago, a friend showed me the following photos which had been taken at a local Home Depot store. I was disturbed at the use of the word "approved" which, as we know, doesn't mean "tested and found safe." My understanding is that many pesticides that the EPA approves for sale have not in fact been tested. But customers are going to see this sign and think that neonicotinoids are safe.
