Re: looking for a weeping willow expert - offlist


The typical "weeping willow" of the trade, in the US & Canada, is a female,
pollen-free cultivar, called Salix babylonica. These will grow in almost any
soil but will do best where the soil is good and there's an ample supply of
water.
    The weeping willow sold as Golden Willow is a male clone, not one I
recommend. There is an excellent female weeping willow, very cold hardy too,
Salix x pendulina 'Elegantissima.'
