Re: looking for a weeping willow expert - offlist


The tree known as Salix babylonica is rather weak wooded and short lived.  It 
is as messy as a sweetgum.  There are many pendulous trees in the trade, but 
some are more widely available than others.  Do some surfing and see what you 
can turn up from places like Princeton Nurseries, Schmidt etc.  If people 
keep settling for the same old stuff the nursery industry will keep growing 
it, but some interest in unusual forms will make a grower smile.  They get 
tired of the same old.....
