Thanks for your interest in the magazine. I don’t know of the Messinger Company (unless they later got into the newspaper business), but you are right about our horticultural heritage here in Rochester. A few years ago a group of us got together and started a collaborative to promote that very thing—we locals are very proud of it and, as you point out, the greater world doesn’t remember the old  Ellwanger & Barry, Harris Seeds, etc. We still have a stunning park system and a very active gardening public.
I’ll be very happy to send you a copy. Please let me know what you think.

I'd enjoy looking at a copy of your magazine.  My family is from Rochester though I've never lived there.  The Messinger Company (which is on Avery Street) at one point was a horticultural wholesale jobber though now I understand they now only work with paint and hardware.  Most people don't remember or realize how important the Rochester area was in horticulture with all the nurseries that were up there but that was a long, long time ago and before my time.
