Folks
I got back from England yesterday after looking at loads of gardens/castles/ruins/Chelsea etc. Thanks to everyone who gave help on the photo problem - I decided in the end to use a digital and that seems to have weathered the security problems OK.
When at Chelsea I saw the Prince's garden - didn't think much of it! The trend though seemed to be more toward the Cottage Garden style and less toward the artificial. There also seems to be a move towards recreating older gardens - knots and parterres/pleasure gardens etc in the larger houses.
One of the biggest differences that I saw though was in the local area - there seems to be a pride again in the exterior of the smaller homes, they looked cleaner and sharper and ALL had something climbing up the wall - wysteria/roses etc. Maybe this is because the economy is better, or the fact that many of the older residents have passed away and the properties are now owned by younger people. Of course I may just have been so desperate to get away from the village, that I didn't notice.
