Re: mosquito question

Wait! You don't have to try and see if this silly Joy thing works and
please, please, don't write about it even if you suggest that you are trying
it to see it works. It doesn't. And it isn't fair to put some reader who
might get West Nile Virus in jeapordy by suggesting it might. It doesn't.
Period. See below. And thing about it! :)

Mosquitoes attracted to white? Actually, white repels them. It is the
forest green as in Forest Service Uniforms that attracts mosquitoes!
Apparently light blue is a good colorl.Or paddle faster!

To keep this a garden WRITING message, we should all watch how this one
developes, again, this summer. Here is a website that may have had
something to do with this. It will soon become an urban myth returned unless
we help stop it: http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/joybugs.html and
http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/joybugs.html

And, to report the hottest YARDENING trend in 10 years, keep an eye on so
called "Mosquito Magnets" . These are propane driven mosquito
attractant/zappers. The propane converts to co2 and that attracts the
mosquitoes. One machine is supposed to cover an acre. They are selling out
here in Anchorage at an astonishing rate. One village in the Bush, tried to
get the legislature to order 200 of them to surrond the village. I have not
tried one as I am too mean for the mosquitoes to bit, but everyone I know
who has one swears they work. Judging from sales here, they must! If they
are selling here because they are effective in riding an acre (one machine!)
of mosquitoes, they will be selling where you write!

Cheers,

Jeff
