Yes.

Do you think Americans like Iceberg lettuce because it tastes so good? It
has no taste at all. Crispy water. We eat Iceberg lettuce because it
ships well, so it can be available year round. Now people buy it even in
summer.  I suspect that in another generation the preferred tomatoes will
be those strip mined in Texas.
