Re: Containers

Stephen,
My experience with this greedy beast was in our trial gardens here in PA, where we tried it, found it guilty and executed it. You'll see it listed as 18" tall, which is true the first year. By year 3, however, ours was looking me in the eye, and I'm just over 6'.
We continue to sell it, but have revised our description. In a container or a contained space, e.g., between a brick wall and a sidewalk, it's a much tamer critter. Also, apparently, in Seattle, where the definition of "adequate sunlight" is somewhat different.

As to 'Oriental Limelight' mine has succumbed to the bulk of plants around it.  Without adequate sunlight, this thug becomes weak and pitiful.  It is overwhelms a garden, there must be too much soil showing to be a 'proper' garden!!
