Re: spam

They?

IF someone can "detect names that appear in your inbox" and you are reading
it on your PC, not a web site, then someone has placed spyware on your
machine and normally that's done via a virus. If you are reading it on a
web site and someone can do this then your mail provider has a serious
security problem. This should not be possible; get another e-mail provider.

Also, if you can click "that it's spam and delete them they go away", that
is only possible in very limited environments; for example, if you use a web
site to read your mail that has this feature.

The number of viruses that use addresses from files on the infected computer
to forward a virus is too many to list. In case you don't believe me; here
is an article on how e-mail viruses work. See the first paragraph after the
heading "How E-mail Viruses Work".

This type of spam is neither a coincidence or a virus - they have some way
to detect names that appear in your inbox and to stick them onto the spam.
The good news is that if you click that it's spam and delete them they go
away. I had this happen for awhile in another email account, and I reported
it as "spam" every time - after a couple of weeks I didn't get them anymore
and the real people's email still came through.
