Here here! C.L., I couldn't agree more. It's hard to edit your own stuff,  
but who else can do it better? 
I got cut recently, too, from 750 to 685 words. I griped, but it really  does 
force you to recognize and remove the fat. 
Think of it as pruning. Some branches may have beautiful flowers, but they  
have to go. If what you're forced to cut out is really good, but it doesn't  
advance the story at hand, use it elsewhere.
