I have to say that $60 for 1,000 words does not sound
reasonable, given the research that has to be done,
and numerous drafts that have to be written. But I
have heard that newspapers do not pay as much as
gardening magazines. I have been writing for a
regional magazine for years and it is $500 for 1200
words; I know that another magazine will pay $600. And
I am not a "famous" person in horticulture, I have not
published a book, so I know I cannot command what
other more popular horticulturists can demand.
