Congratulations, Sheri. I am happy for you. Really. But in typical male
fashion, I've got to tell my story about SRO.

First, an aside. There was a small gathering, three couples, men in the
living room, women in the kitchen. (That still happens aroung here.) In the
kitchen, one of the women says, "I was hit by a car yesterday." All the
other women gathered around her. "Oh, how awful." "Are you OK?" "What
happened? "Tell us about it."

Back in the living room, one of the men says, "I was hit by a car
yesterday." Another starts out, "YOU were hit by a car? Three years ago I
was stepping out from between parked cars on Main Street, and Wham ... "

Men and women. Anyway ...

Four or five years ago I was going to be in the western Philadelphia exurbs.
I have several papers in the area and had been occasionally been asked if I
ever spoke there. So I contacted Longwood Gardens and asked them if I could
speak there, no fee, just an attempt to connect with my readers. The
reluctantly agreed, but said that it was an in-service day, all of the
smaller meeting rooms were booked, and ... sorry ... they would have to put
me in the 160 seat auditorium. They were stunned to see it filled and with
people standing in the back. It went on for three hours with closing
accomplished only by turning off the lights. Longwood has since asked me
back. And paid me.

Yeah, it feels good, doesn't it.
