References for nomenclature
Chris,
I, too, reply on the RHS Plant Finder - so handy since it's been
online. If it would clear things up for my readers, I will add
another name (syn. **). I'm writing about Lupinus sulphureus subsp.
kincaidii, and have been told by Oregon botanists that many of them
are now calling it L. oreganus (those lumpers and splitters), so I
will make sure to mention that. Because I write for the general
gardening public, I don't discussions on hierarchy, although I love
to keep up with it myself.
I don't have my own copy, but would like to know what you think of
Mabberley's Plant Book, the most recent edition 2008.
