Has the Internet gone crazy?

I'm not sure what's going on, but I had someone call me on my cell phone
yesterday to deride me for misspelling 'hawthorn' (I had an 'e' on the
end).  

Then some woman emailed me today to say that she's blocking my site
and will never visit again because she got a popup window asking her
to enable the ads that she was blocking from my our site.  There were
a few expletives thrown in, too.

I think the Internet has gone crazy.

I've never seen this kind of visceral, rabid reaction to online content
before.  The pervsasive thanklessness and sense of entitlement for free
stuff shocks me.  Next think you know people will complain because I have
copyright notices on my images.

Are any of you running into these Internet zombie hoards?
