Speaking as someone who is recovering from treatments due to
non-specific type of cancer, I tend to be a bit suspicious of the chemical
industry, the hydrogen bombs I hung around, lots of "stuff" from my past and
present environment. So, making no apologies for them here.
I can say this ... one cannot hang the industry for what they did
yesterday with today's knowledge. Also we live in a very commercial society.
Want the companies to stop selling chemicals we are sure are not good for us
or our environment? Then we educate gardeners not to purchase the chemicals.
If no one makes a purchase then no more sales and no more production. Do
give the gardeners alternatives they can live with that are just as
effective so they will make the move.
You do know companies that are making millions and billions are not
going to stop a lucrative business of that size yesterday because we have
qualms about their products today.....

Snip...Is there a method, prim and proper, that I should be utilizing in
my writing to let readers know "we've been duped?"
