Iâm not sure I see the conflict here. As a GWA member,just because XYZ company supports GWA activities doesnât mean I will write orspeak about these products or promote them to my radio audience and consultationcustomers. XYZ is spending money hoping that I will, but my ethics/beliefs/messagesremain the same. 

Similarly, I subscribe to the New York Times, yet I donât supportall of their advertisers. I spend money at my local hardware store yet I canâtchampion all of the goods they sell. 

Closer to home, I appreciate the sample products andplants I receive, but if I donât like them, for whatever reason, I donât write aboutthem or talk about them in presentations or on the air. I choose to accentuatethe positive, and I believe that my audiences appreciate that I write/speakfrom personal experiences, not as an infomercial. 

One would hope that GWA members were free thinking andprincipled enough to be pleased that GWA is underwritten by a variety ofbusinesses, yet committed to educating and encouraging their readers/listenerstoward practices that âfirst do no harm.â
