Are you sure that is an accurate statement? Yes, many of the folks who 
"speak" out on this list and state their "adherences" may seem to be 
representative of the GWA- but I suggest they are representative only of 
those who so "speak"  Notwithstanding that many GWA members may not be on 
this listserve, although  a hockey-sock full of them are possible lurkers.

C.L. makes a point  (...I subscribe to the New York Times, yet I don't 
support all of their advertisers. I spend money at my local hardware store 
yet I can't champion all of the goods they sell.) that might be viewed as 
valid by some, or dancing on the head of a pin by others.

 Whether or not I adhere doesn't matter in this instance; nobody asked me 
and I dare say a few others haven't been asked either. Perhaps a GWA wide 
poll might quantify opinions; perhaps a listserve poll might show a 
different skew.

The reason for this e-mail rests on possible battle lines being drawn that 
can have serious consequences for the GWA. Getting duckies lined up, i.e. a 
handle on where the membership stands on issues, before being drawn into a 
discussion where definitive statements are supported by vague generalities, 
might be a consideration.
