Re: planting out dates?

I don't see anyone referring to Grower Degree Days in this thread. Does
anyone follow or use this tool? Many Extension offices throughout the US
publish this data on a daily, weekly and monthly basis so commercial growers
and pesticide applicators know exactly when to expect disease, insect and
weed seed germination. It's primarily based on current temperature data
compared to recent data and historical data and has proven to be quiet
affective in providing planting dates, spraying dates etc. to minimize crop loses,
maximize crop yields and pinpoint pesticide applications (yes, even if
organic they are still pesticides). It's a great deal more precise than
planting tomatoes on Memorial Day, putting down pre emergents for crabgrass at
peak forsythia bloom or digging up a lawn to know just when white grubs are
at the right stage for treatment.
