Absolutely we use this tool but we come it at the back end, in the sense of
phenology. What is happening around us is a pretty good guide but that
doesn't mean we don't check out the numbers.
However, if I were to use the GDD first, I would certainly check to see if
my crops had read the numbers too. (Well I did back in the days when I was a
farmer and a successful crop was directly to my standard of daily living.)
