multimedia projectors

I'm finally entering the 21st century and soon will be offering my  
gardening programs in PowerPoint, bringing the hardware with me to  
venues. But I need some advice . . . who'd like to recommend a  
reliable projector? I want one with enough lumen power to be useful  
in a good-sized room (say a couple hundred in the audience or more)  
but not some super-duper expensive thing that only institutions can  
afford.

Also, can anyone recommend a particularly useful on-line tutorial for  
PowerPoint?
