Sunset's Western Garden Book is the best. It doesn't cover everything, but  
it comes close and is worth every penny. It's available from them, more 
info at  _www.sunset.com_ (http://www.sunset.com) .

I use the book every day in my writing.

I'm not sure of garden columnists in Morro Bay, but I cover all of SoCal in 
 my columns, from 
San Diego to Monterey. Closest place she could find my  column, This  Month 
in the Garden would be Paso Robles Magazine, or at Christian Science  
Monitor's Garden blog, where I add SoCal stuff three to four times a month,  
strictly SoCal.
