Re: nitrogen/woodchips
I'll add my 2 cents worth on the topic with this. If you let wood chips sit
for a year or two, they break down into fine material that is almost
soil-like. I had a tree taken down, and the tree trimmer chipped all the
branches. Then I added the autumn leaves to the pile and mixed. I have
gorgeous mulch now that doesn't deplete nitrogren, because it already
consumed enough to degrade.
